Artist's Description
This lucky little house -- where I lived -- and its roof survived the Oakland Hills Firestorm months after I painted this. Surrounded by charred ruins, this was the only surviving house for blocks.
About Asha Carolyn Young
Born in Chiang Mai, Thailand, I've lived in California since high school. After many years in the San Francisco Bay Area, I moved to the northern California coast to enjoy open spaces and nature. I paint in several modes: plein air and representational painting with oil on canvas; mixed media abstracts on paper and canvas; and painting on old wooden doors. In addition to painting, I enjoy writing, and I've written three books about painting: CARRY YOUR OWN JOY: The Abstract Paintings and Life of Hari E. Thomas, a San Francisco Artist ( https://store.bookbaby.com/book/Carry-Your-Own-Joy ) JOURNEY TO THE TRACKS: Industrial Landscape Paintings and Sketches of Oakland, California ( https://store.bookbaby.com/book/Journey-To-The-Tracks...
